I just bought the new Microsoft Lumia 640 (not the XL) and since it has a much better camera than the Lumia 635, I wanted a way to attach the phone to a tripod for shooting video/pictures and other hands free stuff.
I didn't want anything super expensive because I probably wont be using it all that much, but it might come it very handy when on road trips.
For the money, the build quality is pretty good but I don't think it will hold up to being stepped on. The spring action is quite strong and grips my phone really well. It has a tripod socket on the back and the bottom for portrait or landscape mounting.
It has rubber pretty much everywhere where it comes in contact with the phone, so you don't have to worry about scratching your device.
My favorite thing about this adapter is that it has a screw in both the top and side. That means you can mount it both vertical and horizontal, unlike most cell phone mounters. I think that it would even work on an iphone plus, although I don't have one to test it.
With the slim case on my Galaxy Note 4, it JUST fits inside the spring-loaded jaws of this tripod adapter. The fit is very snug--exactly as I would want it--and even though this adapter is made of plastic, it seems fairly durable.
