LightismSimon Ellingworth, a great U.K.. photographer and  film maker, author of the photography education blog Lightism wrote a great article about self portraits and perspectives, featuring the XShot.

The article just got picked up by Lifehacker.com today. How cool is that?

It is awesome, but mainly because the article is a great read about photography, where Simon explains how self-portraits can help us improve our perspective skills. You know how self-photography is often considered as a bad facebook selfie taken in the bathroom mirror? Simon points out how they can really make the photographer think outside the box and look outside the lens as he has to be in the composition.

Check out Simon’s post and discover his tips, the photo accessories he recommends and the work of other photographers who pushed the self-portrait boundaries, a great source of inspiration.“Put your camera in some new and unusual places and to stop thinking about taking pictures from the conventional eye level position.”

I have to say that we were curious to read about the iPhone App that can trigger a camera shutter by noise : Triggertrap. So we had to download it – it is free by the way – and there is a lot more to it!

Until March 1st, 2013 you can win an XShot camera extender by posting your own creative self-portraitIt has a lot of features like time-lapse, time-Warp, distance-Lapse for road trips , star trail and even a Seismic meter! This is seriously great and I can wait to try it with a camera and our iPhone Tripod case. Simon’s DIY tripod stand with pencils and rubber bands is pretty nifty when you forgot your XShot iPhone case 😉 on Lightism Flick group.

Good luck and have fun!
