“In less than 100 days now, I’ll trek into Everest Base Camp with my climbing partner Steve Obbayi. Steve will be the first Kenyan to climb Everest.

Summiting Everest has been a goal of mine for years. When I realized that no one from Kenya had ever climbed the world’s tallest peak, I knew that leading the first Kenyan expedition for my adopted home was something I must do. And when I met Steve, his passion and determination convinced me that he would be the perfect role model to inspire other Kenyans to tackle their biggest dreams with courage and confidence too.

But Steve and I don’t just want to inspire Kenyans…we also want to reach global citizens like you with a huge message, one that is as massive as Everest: Do Epic Shit.

That’s right. Go climb a mountain. Raft an untamed river. Trek for miles in an undiscovered place. Do something big. Think epic. And do it on behalf of the 2.5 million people who don’t have access to a toilet. Those are the people who we’re climbing for, because we know that by raising awareness of this global crisis, we can solve this humanitarian issue in our lifetime.

We’ve teamed up with Toilet Hackers, a non-profit dedicated to this cause. Toilet Hackers is launching a new sanitation project in Kibera, Nairobi’s largest slum. Every meter that Steve and I tackle means hygiene education and access to sanitary hand washing facilities to two people in Kibera. With Everest standing at 8,850 meters, that’s 18,000 people living healthier lives in Kenya.

You better believe we’ll be sending the folks at Toilet Hackers selfies from each camp on Everest, making sure they know exactly how many meters we’ve climbed. And yes, we’ll be taking our XShot Pro with us to capture each image.

“This is me in Times Square in New York City on World Toilet Day, Nov. 19, 2014. It was the first official World Toilet Day recognized by the United Nations and I joined the Toilet Hackers crew at several events throughout the day to make sure the 2.5 billion people without access to a toilet know that we “give a shit.”
