GO Raiders of the Lost Tuk!
Jim, Bri and Kate started 10 days ago their amazing and noble adventure in India and we are thrilled to be part of it. XShot is supporting the Raiders of the Lost Tuk team, composed of three friends: Brianna Limebrook, Kate DeWald and a long time XShot friend Jim Matheson.
The Rickshaw Run is organized by The League of Adventurists and is a 2,000 mile, two week tuk-tuk trek across the entire sub-continent of India, all in the name of raising awareness for Juvenile Diabetes. there’s just one tiny catch to keep things interesting: they must make this journey in what is easily deemed the least suitable vehicle for transport, the Indian auto-rickshaw (also called a rick, tuk-tuk, or simply “tuk”).
A Tuk-tuk is indeed a three-wheel common form of transportation usually meant for only short distances in and around cities in India. Think glorified lawnmower!
The team is racing across India to raise funds and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is also providing funds for Friends of Maiti Nepal to provide education and safe homes for victims of sexual trafficking and abuse in Nepal & India.
When Jim contacted us with their unique project, it felt like a perfect match and a great cause, especially as Jim himself suffers from Type 1 diabetes. XShot is all about helping you capture the right photo when you travel. The rickshaw is quite a vessel and we are excited to see all of the amazing tuk-tuk pictures that could not be captured without the aid of the XShot. “XShot provided us with a few XShot 2.0’s and iPhone 3G/3Gs cases which we gave away at our charity events and a few more that we will be taking on our trip. They also donated a few of their Tuk-Tuk Mounts….ok well they are actually called Kayak Mounts, but will serve the same purpose – we will attach them to our rickshaw, along with the GoPro cameras we received, to shoot some amazing footage along the run.” said Jim. |

The XShot Kayak mounts have been mounted at the front and side of the rickshaw to hold the XShot Camera extenders and shoot in action while driving. XShot Camera Extenders are also being used while sightseeing and inside the rickshaw to document the journey.
Jim and the girls already had quite a few adventures from delayed lugguage at the arrival, stolen blackberry, multiple Tuk Tuk breakdowns and hundreds of cows to avoid on the road… But what a journey!
GO Team!
